Kitzbühel isn’t just about glitz, glamour, and skiing in winter; in summer, it turns into a cozy, scenic haven for hiking. Think blooming alpine meadows instead of ski slopes, hearty mountain dishes instead of après-ski parties - plus a charming old town that invites you to stroll, sip, and shop at your own pace.

Hikes

Kitzbüheler Horn

The adventure begins with two cable car rides: Hornbahn I and Horngipfelbahn, straight to the summit of the Kitzbüheler Horn at 1,996 meters. From the top, you have a breathtaking 360° panorama of rolling green hills, jagged peaks, and tiny villages far below.

A scenic trail winds down to Lake Hornköpfl, perfectly tucked into grassy slopes. The easy path offers open views, a few curious cows, and a sense of pure alpine calm. At the lake’s edge, an ice-cold Kneipp hydrotherapy area revives tired legs - crystal-clear water, fresh air, and mountain stillness.

For an optional detour, the Karst Learning Path adds gentle adventure before the trail leads to the Alpenhaus. Here, hikers sink into wooden deck chairs with goulash, a cold beer, and views that rival any spa. Sun on the skin, cowbells in the distance, it is an alpine moment worth lingering over.

Perfect for those seeking light hiking, spectacular scenery, and a blissful mountain-day finale.

Hahnenkamm

For another dose of mountain magic, the Hahnenkamm is the place to be. The cable car takes you effortlessly to the mountain top, where a whole new panorama opens up. Lush green slopes stretching into the distance, crisscrossed with tempting hiking trails.

One of them is the Streif, the world-famous downhill ski course of the Hahnenkamm race. Standing at the “Mausefalle” (Mouse Trap) jump, the sheer steepness is jaw-dropping. It’s impossible not to gain a whole new respect for the ski pros who rocket down here at full speed in winter.

The hike down is just as intense as it looks, steep enough to demand regular pauses to marvel (and maybe mutter, “People race this?!”). Fortunately, the Seidlalm lies halfway, ready with hearty food, cold drinks, and the perfect excuse to linger before continuing the descent.

Hotels

From chic alpine style stays to castle hotel charm, Kitzbühel’s hotels are the perfect base for your mountain adventures.
